FCC offering financial relief to producers hit by flooding and delayed field work

Regina, Sask. (Rural Roots Canada) – Farm Credit Canada (FCC) is reminding producers across the Prairies that financial support is available as flooding and persistent wet weather continue to create challenges in parts of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
The federal agricultural lender says it is prepared to work with customers facing financial pressure caused by severe weather, including delayed field operations and flooding.
“We stand by our customers over the long term,” said Angy Porteous, Senior Vice-President of Agriculture Business Financing at FCC. “We have a unique responsibility to partner with our customers and ease their financial stress where possible.”
FCC says it will consider a range of support measures based on individual circumstances. Those options include additional short-term credit, deferral of principal payments and other financial solutions designed to help reduce pressure during difficult conditions.

The organization says its priority is helping producers maintain cash flow, continue operating and recover from the impacts of extreme weather.
“Our focus is on helping producers maintain cash flow, continue operating and recover from the impacts of these extreme weather events,” Porteous said.
Beyond immediate financial assistance, FCC says it also supports investments that improve a farm’s resilience to future weather events. That includes projects related to water management, drainage, flood mitigation and other climate adaptation initiatives.
Producers affected by severe weather are encouraged to contact their FCC relationship manager or the FCC Customer Service Centre to discuss their situation and available support options.
